My boyfriend and I Google new restaurants to eat at in Atlanta all the time. We make a conscious effort to explore new restaurants when we get together. I’ve put together a list of my top eight favorite places based on the quality of the food, service, and the ambiance. If you live in Atlanta or visiting, I recommend you should check out these places. Happy eatings!

4. Minero | Ponce City Market – 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE #136, Atlanta, GA 30308

Recommend: Chips & Salsa served with verde, benne, arbol salsa and Charcoal Chicken Tacos.

The tacos are great, but the salsa dips are what makes me come back each time.

5. Red Pepper | 2149 Briarcliff Road, Atlanta, GA 30329

Recommend: Paloma Margarita, Grilled Veggie taco, Salmon blackened taco, Grilled Chicken, or Carne Asada

I love this place because the food is reasonable price wise and the drinks are good. Red Pepper is an excellent spot for lunch and to hang out with friends or with your partner.

6. Sweet Charlie’s | 3872 Roswell Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30342

Recommend: Wonderfilled Oreo flavor with vegan ice cream rolled in a cup or with oven baked glazed donut

I loved watching the process of how the staff made the ice cream. It was unique because Sweet Charlies combines the art of making Thai inspired ice cream rolls into delicious flavors.

7. Bon Glaze | 3794 Roswell Rd, Atlanta, GA 30342

Recommend: Strawberry Lemonade, Meyer Lemonade, Red Velvet with creme cheese frosting or Vanilla Bean Glazed.

FYI their strawberry lemonade is the BEST. It’s full of flavor.

8. Insomnia Cookies | 930 Spring St NW #2, Atlanta, GA 30309

Recommend: Cookie Dough ice cream with chocolate chip cookies.

I know you can get cookies and ice cream anywhere, but I listed Insomnia Cookies as one of my favorites because I’ve eaten here several times and it is a great hangout spot near Georgia Tech and it’s open until 3am. Sometimes my boyfriend and I  hit up this place for desserts after our dates.

Honorary mentions: Georgetown Cupcakes, Blue Moon Pizza, Seasons 52 and Tuk Tuk Thai Food Loft

Spring on the Beltline

In Atlanta, there is a trail that runs 22 miles of unused railroad corridors, which passes through the heart of the city’s in-town neighborhoods. We call it “The Beltline”. This trail is an outdoor art gallery full of art installations, graffiti under the bridges and other cool street art to admire or have an Instagram moment. On Saturday, my boyfriend and I had a lunch date at Minero located in the Ponce City Market. After lunch, we grabbed our roller blades and went cruising on the Beltline (One of the entrances is on third floor at Ponce City Market). If you visit Atlanta, I recommend exploring the Beltline. It’s so much fun! You can rent bikes for a small fee or go walking and enjoy the scenery. Along the trail, expect to see different parks, cute dogs, bikers, skaters, and restaurants for good drinks and good food.

Master of Me: Self-Love

Dearly beloved we a gathered here today to get through this thing we call life. This lyric was from the beginning of Prince song, Let’s Go Crazy. This lyric speaks on so many volumes for me because everyone is trying to get through life. It’s a roller-coaster. We have our up’s and downs twists and turns. We are all trying to figure out our journey. On my journey, I’m learning and reading different books on personal and spiritual growth, and it seems one of the essential messages is SELF-LOVE. It’s something my mother is always talking to me about. SELF-LOVE in my opinion is…

  • Being honest with yourself
  • Choosing your happiness
  • Thinking positively
  • Daily affirmations
  • Stop looking outside of yourself for value

Every day, I’m finding something to love about myself. I do have days when I’m moody and reclusive, but when that happens, I reflect on the good and change my energy. Usually, I’ll pamper myself, enjoy nature by rollerblading or walk through the park, dance or sing along to my favorite songs, basically doing whatever to uplift my mood. What are some ways you uplift yourself?

I’ll end with this quote by RuPaul, “If you can’t love yourself how the hell you gonna love somebody else.” I take this quote and apply it to myself, and you can too, as well. Remember it’s all about LOVE, and it’s one of the values to get you through this thing called life.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. What are some ways you practice self-love? What books are you currently reading?

Formally, A Saint James. Last year, I was blogging on and off, and then I stopped altogether. I guess you can say life was treating me well.

I moved into a new home, started an exciting new relationship, started a new job and was promoted to Visual Specialist, found a new love for sushi and along the way I attended a couple of Janet Jackson’s State of the World Tour concerts. If you know me, you know I have this ever-lasting love for Janet.

I had several great moments last year, but I realized my blogging has been lacking and I’m ready to fix that. My new website,, is my creative outlet. It’s all lifestyle, fashion and me. It’s as simple as that. More to come soon.  img_1962img_2193(photo edit by me)
